Self-Directed Search - Form R

The SDS is a simulated career counselling experience. Based on Dr. John L. Holland's RIASEC theory that both people and work environments can be classified according to six basic types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (RIASEC), the SDS enables individuals to choose careers and fields of study that best match their self-reported skills and interests. There is also a Self-Directed Search Form E for those with limited literacy.

Vocational Preference Inventory

Although the VPI is similar to the Self-Directed Search® (SDS®), it is a psychological inventory, whereas the SDS is similar to a vocational counselling experience. The VPI is most useful in one-on-one counselling sessions with school and college students, as well as with adults.
