Isolde pioneered the introduction of "OD" - Organizational Development, into the Symantec Localization group. The group is aligned functionally and as is often symptomatic of groups arranged in that way, communication and collaboration across boundaries can suffer. Coaching is the training provided to overcome problems, be they organisational, emotional and/or interpersonal. During the development of one’s career, on occasion you can feel that you’ve reached a point where you may require direction to be given to you about where to go or what to do next. You may have also encountered a stop point in your work life whereby with coaching you could manage or master the issue at hand.
It was at a point such as this that I availed of coaching offered and provided by Isolde. It was during these coaching sessions that Isolde was able to unpick the blockage or stalling points that had occurred in both mine and my team’s development.
Through introspection, encouragement, utilities and exercises Isolde assisted me in the reorganisation of my working practices and the reorganisation of my team structures and practices in order to move my team on to becoming a more cohesive, and effective team.
It is now a number of months on since my last coaching session with Isolde, and a number of months on from implementing the new practices for both me and my team. Positive results were quick to appear, and the dividends are continuing to be paid back from my time investment in coaching.
